We have been looking forward to this bit of the journey for some time, the twenty nine locks of the Caen Hill flight. A long day, in the hot sun, but quite an experience.
We spent our first night moored near to the Barge Inn at Honey Street. This was so we could get alien support for our lock-wheeling planned for the morrow in the crop circle pub of the year. As they say, 'Greetings earthlings and welcome to the Barge Inn, “Crop Circle Central” and “Most Famous Pub in the Universe”'.
Margaret very kindly brought the makings for our evening meal. This was beef stroganoff planned in honour of the time that Betty and I had taken her six months pregannt self on her first ever camping trip to Anglesey. We served beef stroganoff from the camp stove then and Margaret has never forgotten it as the recipe is to be found in their family recipe book. This was also to be her first overnight stay on Cribbit, its hard to say just what she thought it would be like.
