Made a template for the doorway out of Celotex to support the arch. Had this resting on small slivers of wood to allow it to be removed when the mortar had set.
Two layers of Celotex supporting the arch.
Covered the oven with aluminium foil waterproof layer.
Held in place with gaffer tape.
All covered with chicken wire and wired up to the brick arch.
Galvanised nails holding the chicken wire down at the bottom.
Ready for rendering.
First render coat applied.
Later in the day the second coat was put on.
'Smooth as a baby's bottom' as Uncle Roy used to say when we plastered Rookery Cottage together.
Gave the whole thing a coat of waterproof white paint.
